The Casey Anthony Trial

I don’t know whether or not Casey Anthony killed her child but I do know that she comes from one seriously screwed up family.

Apparently, they’re all liars. George lies. Cindy lies. Casey lies. Lee will only admit that “maybe” he lied. Maybe? Gee, wonder what the judge thought of that.

 George and Cindy Anthony exhibited manipulative behavior when they kept the title for the car in their names even though Lee, their son, paid for the car and then sold it to Casey. This was how they could claim the car had been stolen when it wasn’t. Some people have hypothesized that they did it for insurance reasons but if this were the case then they were doing their children a disservice. After all they were adults. This has strong control overtones. Claiming that the car was stolen when they knew it wasn’t proves the controlling nature of the relationship.

During one of their prison visits with Casey, her parents would not let her speak. They wanted information from her but would not stop talking long enough for her to reply. Cindy kept interrupting her. Finally Casey became frustrated and upset. The best thing she could have done was to hang up and walk away but with her background the need to impose some authority over her own situation overcame good judgment.

When Casey’s parents first sat down, Cindy asked George why is “she” crying. What an odd question under the circumstances since Caylee was missing and Casey was in jail. Not a situation that would generally make a person happy. And why not use Casey’s name? For that matter, why not ask Casey directly? Cindy was sitting directly across from her. Wouldn’t want to acknowledge her daughter’s right to have emotions. This seems to be part of their odd family dynamic.

I’ve seen no actual proof that George molested his daughter but he keeps looking down when he’s questioned about it in court. And, again, he has a controlling personality which becomes combatant when questioned by Jose Baez. He was not calm; he was struggling to contain his anger and need to assert authority over others. I keep seeing Jack Nicholson peeing all over a room, marking his territory. The personality fits with the molestation charge but it also fits your basic asshole so without more proof there’s no way of knowing whether or not he molested Casey. Controlling, combatant, authoritative. There’s probably a psychiatric term for this. Tyrant?
